Alyssa DeCenzo

Alyssa grew up in New Albany, OH, training in the pre-professional program here at NABC. She continued dancing at The Ohio State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2012. During her time there, she trained with and performed contemporary works by Susan Hadley, Melanie Bales, d. Sabela Grimes, and Meghan Durham Wall. She also studied in Costa Rica at the Taller Nacional de Danza – Conservatorio El Barco with Jimmy Ortiz, and performed in Chicago with modern dance company The Moving Architects under the direction of Erin Carlisle Norton.

In addition to teaching dance, Alyssa spent six years as an elementary teacher in the Gahanna school district after receiving her teaching license in grades PreK-5 from Otterbein University.

Alyssa resides in Blacklick with her husband and their three daughters, Maria, Luciana, and Adriana. She’s excited to continue sharing all she’s learned as both a dancer and educator with her students!
