A native of northern Michigan, Sarah began her training at Dance Arts Academy studying ballet with Elisa Brabenec and Patrick Hinson. At the age of 13 she moved to Toronto to attend Canada’s National Ballet School full time. After graduating with honors in 2006, she furthered her training through NBS’s post secondary program. During that time she guested with The Dutch National Ballet before becoming an inaugural member of The National Ballet of Canada’s RBC apprentice program YOUDance (Youth Outreach and Understanding), introducing dance to thousands of elementary school students in Ontario. In 2008 she became a corps de ballet member of The National Ballet of Canada and continued to perform with them in Toronto and tour internationally through 2015. She danced with BalletMet for the 2016/17 season and has performed lead roles with The National Ballet of Canada, Ballet Minnesota, and BalletMet in addition to free lance and commercial work in Toronto and NYC. She has worked with Christopher Wheeldon, Natalia Makarova, Jorma Elo, John Neumeier, Jirí Kylián, James Kudelka, Chrystal Pite, and many more and has trained with teachers such as Evelyn Hart, Sergiu Stefanschi, Fernando Alonso, Deborah Hess, Lindsay Fischer, and Nancy Bielski. Sarah was awarded The Cecchetti Council of America Ballet Award, The New York City Dance Alliance Ballet Scholarship presented by Leslie Brown, Canada’s National Ballet School’s Peter Dwyer Award of Excellence Presented by The Canada Council For The Arts, and The National Ballet of Canada’s Patrons’ Council Award of Merit. She completed Fletcher Pilates Teacher Certification Courses in Matwork I & II, Advanced Matwork, and Towelwork during her career in Canada and has enjoyed teaching throughout Ontario, Michigan, Minnesota, and Ohio. She is now a free lance dancer based in Columbus and thrilled to be on faculty at The New Albany Ballet Co.
